DR WHO ISSUE 1 - MARVEL COMICS 1984 - DAVE GIBBONS art

This piece has an interesting history!

It was supposed to be the cover to Issue 1 of Marvel Comics monthly DR WHO book which came out Oct. 1984. The story is 'The Star Beast'.

It ended up being used as the back cover of DR WHO issue 1, as editorial wanted a wider establishing shot, as unlike now, DR WHO was not as famous in the USA in 1984!

This art was also used as the promotional poster by Marvel comics to advertise and launch the series ( as it was supposed to be the Launch cover )

Original art is on Marvel Card stock paper, and also included is the A4 cover rough with Dave's notes to the editors.

A stupendous piece of Comics and Sci Fi history from the co-creator of Watchmen.
