2000AD Prog 137 Cover BLACKHAWK - Massimo Belardinelli

Fantastic cover from the golden age of 2000ad! The first series cover Blackhawk ( Once a Roman centurion, now Gladiator in savage alien arena! ), drawn by maestro artist Massimo Belardinelli, 2000AD Prog 137, cover date 3rd November 1979.

Blackhawk was one of the strips that transferred over from TORNADO when it merged with 2000ad!

Art is on heavy Watercolour paper. As often happened at the time, the Cover Logo Title was removed and reused for the next week's issue, as getting new Cover Logo Titles made was difficult as the Repro department did not prioritise Comics, which was part of the 'Juvenile Department'.  A replacement can be made if desired.

Art is 32 x 40 cm active art area on large Fabriano watercolour paper in very good condition.
